Brooklin Branch September-October Programs

Picture of five smiling childrenThe temporary Brooklin Branch, located at 150 Winchester Road West, will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 18 and will re-open at the new Brooklin Community Centre and Library on Saturday, October 16.  Due to the move, children’s programs will not be available for the September-October session at the Brooklin Branch.  Programs will resume the week of November 1, with registration beginning Wednesday, October 27 at 10 a.m.  View our online calendar for information about programs at the other library branches.  Visit the Brooklin Community Centre and Library website for updates and news about project.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Now on DVD and available at your Branch!

Now available for borrowing "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" starring Zachary Gordon" at all out Branches.

39 Clues Book Draw

Are you a 39 Clues fan? Drop in to the Central Library before August 31 (the release date of Into the Gauntlet - the final book in the series) and fill out a ballot for your chance to win a signed copy of a Peter Lerangis 39 Clues book. If you haven't read any of the series, it's a great time to start. Check some of the titles out here.

JUNGLE HUNT @ Your Library

 

monkey imageIf you would like to take part in a scavenger hunt, stop at the Children's and Adult Fiction Department desk and pick up the printed clues. These will lead  you around our department and test your observation skills. A surprise awaits you at the end of the hunt.

Coming in the Fall to the Central Library!

Join us this fall for two new book clubs: one for children in the junior grades (4-6) and one for intermediate students in grades 7 & 8. Registration will begin September 1, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. in person at the Children's and Adult Fiction desk or by calling (905) 668-6531 ext. 2010. Both clubs will begin in October and will take place on a Saturday afternoon from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Each club will meet every 3 weeks - a schedule will be provided.

Ride to Read

Image of DRT bus.Your library card and the Summer Reading Clubs are your tickets to free travel on Durham Region Transit this summer! All elementary school-aged children (kindergarten to grade 8) who register will be able to ride DRT buses at no charge in July and August, using their library card as a transit pass with a valid sticker.
